MODERNIZA CHECK
IMPROVEMENT OF TICKETING SYSTEMS

OBJETIVE

Improvement of ticketing systems and procedures for passenger transport systems. It is intended to facilitate and expedite the issuance and validation of transport tickets and, in addition, be useful for passenger control. Projects may be related to new payment methods and the integration of existing titles.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS SERVICE

  • Hardware implementation for new monetary and ticketing systems, such as as a desk on board the vehicle that, in addition to selling/issuing tickets, is configured as the vehicle's central computer for currency/ticketing, validator/canceler for EMV-type cards, contactless smart cards and NFC readers on board vehicles, at stops or in stations, vending machines for the sale and issuance of tickets, etc. The expansion of a current monetary and ticketing system is also considered.

In any implementation of ticketing procedures, it is recommended that the current system and the new one that is intended to be installed coexist, at least for a sufficient transition time for travelers to adapt, mainly those with less digital literacy.
  • Licenses software or web subscription for two years for the use of the monetary and ticketing system; updating current system software; and system integration or its communication with other internal systems.
  • Training on the use of ticketing management equipment and programs, in order to optimize operations. The training must include practical sessions on the use of the tools once integrated, as well as information sessions that allow maximum use of other technologies that allow improving the service provided. In these briefing sessions, reference will be made to the Safe, Sustainable, Connected Mobility Strategy 2030 prepared by MITMA and in particular to its "Line 5.1 Facilitation of Mobility as a Service, open data and new technologies for the analysis and optimization of mobility", and "Measure 5.1.2: Promote open and interoperable ticketing and payment solutions", which highlights MITMA's interest in promoting open and interoperable ticketing and payment solutions, which could be carried out by different ways, such as cooperation with other competent administrations (CC.AA., City Councils), through the public service obligation contracts that it manages –regulated by articles 69 to 87 of the LOTT and 61 to 104 of the ROTT– , or promoting regulatory modifications (which can be referred to if they are in the public information phase).
